The incident took place in New Haven County around 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Wallingford at 327 South Elm St.

According to Lt. Stephen Jaques of the Wallingford Police, officers discovered that a gray 2016 Kia Optima crashed into the front side of the complex causing damage to the structure.

The driver of the Kia was transported to the hospital for evaluation of suspected minor injuries. No other injuries were reported, Jaques said.

An initial investigation determined that the Kia was traveling westbound on Wharton Brook Drive approaching its intersection with South Elm Street when it continued straight across the road and into the complex, Jaques added.

No arrest was made on the scene and this incident is still under investigation.

The Wallingford Police Patrol Division and the Wallingford Fire Department handled this incident with assistance from the Wallingford Building Department.
